ESSER Funding Feedback

Dear Dove Academy of Detroit Stakeholders,

As a part of the America Rescue Plan, the federal government designated funds to public schools for addressing needs that were uncovered as a result of the pandemic, to mitigate the learning loss associated with remote learning, and to equalize long-term funding disparities between low- and high-income schools. Dove Academy of Detroit has been allocated $1,793,780 for which it is presenting a plan to spend.

The proposed plan spends the money in the following ways:

  • 59% of this round is dedicated to staffing with costs budgeted through 2024: retention stipends, coaches, classroom aides, student advocates, social work and interventionists as well as professional development and stipends for training to support much of our work.
  • 35% is dedicated to the building, which includes replacing the windows, furniture, replacing faucets and flushing mechanisms to touchless, parking lot resurfacing and repainting, replacing the awning, and replacement technology.
  • The remainder is dedicated to materials for interventions that align with our curriculum and can help support kiddos who need another way to approach their learning or some additional support.

There are still some funds remaining to be allocated, but it is important to note that no money is spent yet. If you have a child at the Academy, you would have received a survey earlier asking you to evaluate the needs of your child. But you may also provide feedback here. Please let us know what you think your child or the Academy can do to improve student learning or the environment of the school or provide feedback on this current plan.
