Happy Principal Appreciation Month

Principal Appreciation Image

Our two dynamite leaders at Dove Academy of Detroit are blazing the way for our students. With Tommy Brooks as principal and Paul Ezel as vice-principal, our students are being led and held accountable daily. They are gaining tools to be leaders in their schools and community. We are grateful for their service.

Tommy Brooks is in his second year as principal of Dove Academy and in his eighth year of education. He attended Michigan State University (bachelor’s) and Wayne State University (graduate and specialists). Outside of being a principal, he has a passion for building community outreach and providing free athletic training camps for youth in both Kalamazoo and Detroit. He also enjoys spending time with his wife and three girls.

Paul Ezel is in his fifteenth year at Dove Academy. He has served in various roles at Dove including teaching 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade. He has also served in the media center and most currently serves as the Dean of Students/Vice Principal. Paul attended Central Michigan University (bachelor’s) and Oakland University (master’s). He currently is in the process of obtaining his Ed Specialist degree from OU.

Paul believes that the most rewarding part of education is knowing that even on the tough days, you are still impacting and changing someone’s life. He believes that in education, staff and teachers have the unique opportunity to be the example and set the tone for the next generation. When outside of Dove, you can find Paul watching football or spending time with his wife and family.
