We are proud to share that Dove Academy of Detroit has been awarded both the School Data Utilization for Reading and Behavior and the Implementation and Impact Tier 1 Behavior: Silver Recognition Awards for the 2023-2024 school year!
The Michigan Department of Education has established a process to recognize schools that show significant progress in addressing the needs of each student through a multi-tiered system of support. This framework, known as MTSS (Multi-Tiered System of Support), is used by schools statewide and includes research-based methods aimed at improving student outcomes in both behavior and academics. We at Dove Academy of Detroit are proud to have been recognized for our achievements within this system, earning the School Data Utilization for Reading and Behavior and the Silver Tier 1 Behavior Implementation and Impact recognition badges.
The purpose of MTSS is to assess students early and intervene as needed, helping them stay on track with their peers. Examples of intervention strategies include:
- Universal screening for all students at the beginning of the school year.
- Providing additional, targeted support for students who face challenges.
- Creating comprehensive plans to address students’ academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs.
- Adopting a schoolwide approach where teachers, counselors, psychologists, and other specialists collaborate to assess students and plan interventions.
- Offering professional development to enable staff to deliver effective interventions and track progress.
- Encouraging family involvement so parents and caregivers understand and can reinforce interventions at home.
- Regularly monitoring student progress to determine if further intervention is necessary.
- Implementing evidence-based strategies across each level of support.
We extend our gratitude to every member of our community for their support. We look forward to continued dedication and involvement this year. Be sure to stay connected with us on Facebook and visit our website for updates!
